The South East is an area of water-stress in that it only just has enough to meet normal demand. This problem is compounded in Eastbourne as our water is fed from underground aquifers – if we have a drought sources run low. Even if we were to have a flood shortly afterwards this might not replenish the underground supplies.
- to reduce our water consumption so we consume no more than 120 litres a day per capita
- Identify any issues for local water supply to ensure water supplies are not put at risk e.g. fracking
- Increase awareness on how to use water sensibly and you can join in discussions here
- ensure the Water Resources Management Plan is delivered
