As you are probably aware East Sussex County Council secured £2.2m of funding from the Department for Transport’s, Local Sustainable Transport Fund to deliver practical and attractive sustainable travel solutions for people living and working in Newhaven & Eastbourne. Southern trains have also secured funding to create a cycle hub at Eastbourne Train Station – spaces for up to 250 bikes and cycle repair and maintenance.
This money builds on last year’s publication of the strategy to make Eastbourne a cycle town, the completion of a key seafront cycle path along King Edwards Parade. It is also a positive step to help us become a low carbon town.
As a key stakeholder for Eastbourne we would like to get your views and update you on the projects that have already started. A key one is the launch of the ‘Bike It’ officers which offer free cycle training to organisations.
The first forum will take place on Wednesday 27th February 2013 at Eastbourne Town Hall 5-7pm. It will be an informal meeting with rolling presentations so you can come at a time that suits you – refreshments will be available. You will also be able to talk to the people that were involved in the bid and are managing the various projects.
To help us with the catering arrangements it would be helpful if you could let us know by Monday 25 February if you are able to come.
